hey guys,
most people call me spot - my real name is Liam.
i have lived in Ballarat since 1999.
i am a huge gaming freak - any type of gaming i can get.
i collect all consoles, but mainly sega and nintendo.
i prefer arcade gaming most of all - its where i grew up.
(milk bars and sh!tty melbourne arcades.)
start of this year i built 2 arcade machines (not mame)
and reckon they turned out pretty good and plan on building heaps more in the future.
(when my credit card allows it )
cam't say i am a fan of modern games - all flash an no substance.
(except Gran Turismo 4)
fav game would have to be anything Street Fighter.
(minus the disgrace the EX series was.)
Mario Kart would have to be a close 2nd - i own all versions bar the GC.
(which i hate - but still have to get.)
i look forward to meeting you guys at the RetroBrad con in ballarat!! |

id be keen to see photos of your cabinets, are they jama?

Welcome to the forum ''spot'' ,here where other retroers reside you will enjoy yourself, also I couldn't help noticing you also hail from Ballarat, a few others in here are also from there, guess you just can't beat country living
Have fun at the convention! (wish I was going, wish the numbers 3000kms round trip weren't involved, wish I had a car, wish the wishing fairy would suddenly appear in my lounge room, sigh )

thx for the warm welcome guys.
retrobrad - yes they are both JAMMA cabs.
the inspiration for my 2 cabs was the sega astro city.
cause im a big fighting game fan i designed them to the same rough dimensions as the sitdown japanese cabinets.
i'll have to post a pic when i get a chance.
next lot will be more recognizable standup cabs we all would have seen back in the day. |

have you checked out www.highway.net
or it might be highway.net.au???
they have loads and loads of arcade bits and pieces, i made a MAME cabinet a couple of years ago and got some parts from those guys.
are you talking about those white sit down cabinets? |

yeah mate - the ones i made were kinda copies of sit down cabs.
plus i got a few parts from highway.
but i have found many new sites that provided gear WAY cheaper than them.
(even getting stuff from overseas is cheaper )
would like to build another 2 of these cabs - maybe in balck.
but next project is a retro styled standup cab.
with some kind of shooter in it.
check the pic:
(one is setup for CPS2/3 games.
has SF3 - Third Strike in it,
2nd cab has a 1 slot neogeo in it.)
